1975 is the year when first Cricket World Cup was played on English soil. The Inaugural cup was won by West Indies against Australia. The second World Cup was again lifted by West Indies who were dominating the World cricket in that decade. In 1983, West Indies again reached the finals of the WC but this time India were better off to lift the cup. This was the point when West Indies domination in World Cricket was broke. England team and fans feel that they are unlucky; they managed to reach the finals of 1987 & 1992 WC but failed to win. Australia and Pakistan respectively beat England in 1987 and 1992 WC finals. Sri lanka under the captaincy of Ranatuga won 1996 WC in Gaddafi Stadium. After the 1996 World Cup cricket was totally dominated by Aussies. They won three consecutive WC’s of 1999, 2003 and 2007. They kept the World Champion title for 12 years – Most by any Team. Their winning streak was break by India in 2011 where they lifted the WC on their home soil by beating Sri Lanka. Dhoni finished off the cup in Style by hitting a Helicopter style “SIX”.
