BOL Entertainment hires crème da la crème of the industry

BOL is coming up with another brand — Bol Entertainment — that claims to bring a seismic shift to Pakistan’s entertainment arena. The channel sticks to its basic philosophy of conforming to the cultural values and heritage of Pakistan, while offering top-quality, truly entertaining programs, including movies. TV viewing, the media outlet claims, will take an altogether different turn with the advent of BOL Entertainment.
In this context, some prominent personalities in the field of entertainment have recently joined BOL — people who have made a name for themselves in their respective fields. 

Noorul Huda Shah
Noorul Huda Shah completed her undergraduate education from Sindh University. During her studies, she passionately wrote Sindhi short stories for digests which were later distilled into books. Soon after completing her education, she joined PTV and worked on single plays. In 1983, her first serial, Jungle, was aired on PTV which won several awards including the Best Writer and Best Play. In the following years, she wrote different famous serials for PTV, a few of them are Tappish, Hawa Ki Beti, Faaslay, Asmaan Tek Deewar, Ajaaeb Khaana, Badalon Per Basaayra and Marvi.

In the early 2000s, Noorul Huda joined Geo Entertainment and worked on Sheeshay Ka Mahal, the channel’s first soap as producer and writer. Other famous projects with the channel include Thori Si Mohabbat and Meri Adhoori Mohabbat. She has also extensively worked for HUM TV as well as a private production house. She also worked as information minister in the caretaker Sindh government for three months. An active social worker, Noorul Huda has served as a CEO of APlus, where she was responsible for planning and designing for the channel. Noorul Huda has also worked, as a writer and consultant, with America’s leading university, Johns Hopkins University, on awareness issues such as women empowerment and health. At the moment, she is working on a foreign project, an English movie with Pakistani story and characters. Due to her immense contribution to the field of entertainment, she has been given some prestigious awards and accolades, including PTV’s Lifetime Achievement Gold Medal.

Rana Rizwan
Acclaimed director, Rana Rizwan completed his undergraduate education in 1994 from Government Islamia Science College, Karachi, followed by a 4-year-long diploma course in advertising from Studio Art, Karachi. He began his advertising career with Interflow Communications as an intern. After a brief stint at the company, he joined another advertising agency, Origins, in 1999 and worked there for a year. Despite being at the zenith of his career, he left Origins in 2000 to launch his own advertising agency, Velocity, and worked for several clients, including DC Pager and renowned dress designers such as Nadya Mistry. He then entered the challenging field of comedy production, emerging as one of Pakistan’s finest comedy directors.
A powerhouse of talent, Rana Rizwan left advertising in favor of TV production in 2001 and interned with renowned TV producer Mehreen Jabbar. In 2001, he did a sitcom, Sub Set Hai, as an assistant director with Indus Vision. Meanwhile, he continued to conduct several magazine shows for PTV. In 2003, he joined Moomal Productions where he worked for Hum TV for nearly five years. He continued to hone his directorial skills by doing several telefilms and projects which gained immense popularity among the audiences. In 2007, he joined ARY Music as content head and the assignment proved to be a great learning experience for him. After leaving the channel in 2008, he worked as a freelancer for a while during which he released two comedy serials, Hum Tum for Geo Entertainment and Badtameez for ARY before launching into his career’s biggest project, Bulbulay, in 2009.

Faseeh Bari Khan
Faseeh Bari Khan has completed his master’s in Urdu literature and has attended various national and international workshops. He is a veteran writer who has penned several drama serials and telefilms.
In addition, he has worked on such popular telefilms as
 Burnsroad Ki Nilofer, Romance of Ranchor line, Siraay Ghatt Ki Farzana, Ek Aur Seedha, Baraay Shehar Ki Akeli Aurat, Meray Muhallay Ki Larki, Amtul Ki Galli, Chuppan Chupai, O Meri Ammo, Bawalli Bitya, Ronaq Jahan Ka Nafsiyati Gharaana, Pappu Pass Hogaya and Ek Aur Auraat.
His exceptional portfolio includes blockbuster drama serials like
 Qudussi Sahab Ki Bewa, Tar-e-Ankaboot, Khala Kulsoom Ka Qumba, Pyaari Shammo, Mithu Aur Aapa, Mohabbat Jaye Bhaar Mein, Behkawa, Kaanch, Waada, Khaatoon Manzil, amongst others. Faseeh Bari Khan has won national and international awards, including the revered Kara Film Festival Award for Best Screenplay.

Aamra Shahid
Aamra Shahid completed her studies in applied zoology from Karachi University. As a student, she worked for Badme-Talba as a writer and also conducted various scientific programs. At an early age, she joined Radio Pakistan as a writer and hosted a weekly show, Humari Aur Aalimi Tajurbaa Gaahain. Soon after graduation, she joined the pharmaceutical industry and became the first woman zonal sales manager due to which she was invited by PTV on a women empowerment program. 
Soon after, she started conducting a program on PTV, Sehat o sukoon for which she researched and wrote as well. Some of her renowned works include Kambakht Tanno on A Plus, Faltu Larki on A Plus, Noor-e-Zindagi on Geo, Gohar-e-Nayab on A Plus, amongst others. During her career, she has also written blockbuster telefilms like Mehndi Laga K Rakhna on Geo, Sentimental, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Dhatt Tere Ki, Maikaay Ka Shahrukh Khan and Yeh Kaunsa Diyaar Hai for Hum TV. As well as an accomplished writer, Aamra is a lyricist. She has been recognized for her brilliant work on many occasions times, with her telefilm Sentimental having been nominated as Best Telefilm at Hum TV Awards and Mere Meherbaan as Best Drama at the awards.
